I always knew I wanted a career in a health profession, and I considered medicine, even mortuary science. Ultimately, I decided dentistry was what I wanted to do because I had an extraordinary amount of dental work completed before I was 21 including multiple major oral surgeries, braces twice, and I was without two front teeth for two years. I thought that I could be particularly empathetic to my patients having had my own personal dental experience.
